See thespec.com under On Lockdown Day 197: Watching so many nature shows that I now narrate my own day-to- day activities in David Attenbo- voice.

do wish you lot would replace the toilet I say. I am ignored, even as David Attenborough. Lockdown Day 198: Had the big Maple tree out front pruned. The tree guy said the tree was stressed. to my life, Maple I thought.

Lockdown Day 199: At the long term care home where girlfriend, Sarah, works, there are two other Sarahs. On their work chat, her supervisor, Heather, calls her Sarah Bangs. Bangs for short. She has really distinctive bangs, so it fits, but this nickname makes me giggle every time I hear it. Bangs.

If ever wondering how those on the front lines are managing to keep spirits up, things like this. Lockdown Day 200: I knew back in March that we would get to this count. I knew it would be for the rest of the year. What I know is that our provincial government would be so inept as to let us get here in such bad shape. That is the end of my political ranting, as most of you have noted avoided for six months now.

Buckle up. Lockdown Day 201: de- cided we need a Lockdown Matchmaker. With so many people alone, I want them to connect so everybody can have a phone call every day. If complete strangers, all their stories will be fresh. Somebody should make this happen.

1987 Reach Out and Touch Someone campaign has renewed meaning. Lockdown Day 202: Talked to my sisters about Thanksgiv- ing, which is now off as a family event. We pledged to join up the households by Zoom. They know it, but I have secret- ly pledged to have my first drunk Zoom meeting. Lockdown Day 203: Some- one wondered how my screen door could possibly have pull marks right near the top.

I told them Sweet Pea is climbing the walls. Literally. her new trick. I fix more screens than a computer repair shop. Lockdown Day 204: Shocked to realize I been to the gym in nearly a year.

Surgery before and during lock- down pushed it off the table. How did I realize this? By get- ting a charley horse. While weeding. Lockdown Day 205: Things that would dance on my last nerve before the lockdown: chronic leaf blowing, discover- ing a load of wash in the dryer I forgot to turn on two days earli- er, devastating poli- cies, the internet being down for a day. Things that get on my nerves now: one egg left in the carton, someone pronouncing Worces- tershire wrong, the opening credits on shows bingeing, two mustards being open at the same time, that weird swirl in hair, the internet being down for a minute and a half.

Lockdown Day 206: Am contemplating buying four sticks, each two metres long and making a big circle around myself. Too many people judge distance the way I measure wine. Which is not at all. Those nerves I mentioned? not saying punch someone. But I think about it.

Lockdown Day 207: Was digging through files of old pho- tos, and remembering my other work life. Last year seems like forever ago. Of course, travel has been cancelled, but a good reminder to embrace what I have instead of what I miss. all capable of adapt- ing. Evolution has proven that.

Necessity is the mother of rein- vention, or something like that. Lockdown Day 208: Saw three little kids wearing their masks, not complaining at all. I wanted to hug them, but I I wanted to smile at them, and I tried. Please tell your kids they are superheroes. Onward, my warriors.

MOTHERLODE The Lockdown Diaries: When Sweet Pea starts climbing the walls Like just about every one else you know, COVID has Sweet Pea has climbing the wall, or the screen door in this case.
