In some cases, when you are driving locally you will be able to get home every night, though many local drivers work very long days. Many regional drivers come home two to three times each week. Some companies do their best to have you home for a certain amount of hours every weekend.
Home Daily: Our local truck driving jobs offer drivers daily home time. Most local truck driving jobs that get you home nightly are based out of our terminals. Get an average of 120 days off a year and get home every other week by driving for 7 days with 4 days home, followed by 7 days of driving with 3 days home.

How many hours do truck drivers work? The current limits are 70 hours in 8 days. Total on duty in any one day is 14 hours, and no more than 11 of that actually driving. At the start of your day, you may drive a maximum of 8 hours before taking a half hour break.
If you are in an area where there is an intense demand for local drivers then you may be able to pull it off, but it is not without considerable risk involved that could have long reaching effects on your career.
How Far Do Truckers Drive in a Day? At the maximum, a driver can spend 11 hours a day driving. If they were traveling at 65 miles per hour all day, that's 715 miles. (Many trucking companies use “governors” which stop the driver from going more than 65 mph.)
Drivers can only be behind the wheel for up to 11 hours during the 14-hour work window. If it's been eight or more hours since their last break, truckers must take a break of at least 30 minutes.
May not drive after 60/70 hours on duty in 7/8 consecutive days. A driver may restart a 7/8 consecutive day period after taking 34 or more consecutive hours off duty.
